Last week was extremely rewarding but equally difficult.
On Sunday 8th February we attempted to do the longest cycle ride in my entire life – Stroud to Gloucester and back. We endured 52k of cycling in 2 hours and 25 minutes. I was really chuffed even though I felt light headed and a bit delirious! I need to have more nutrition as and when I am on the bike. Top advice – take energy bars with you.
During the week I went to two gym sessions with Jeremy Bingham to build up my stamina and strength. As always Jeremy gets me to do the exercises that I roll my eyes at! Having said that I am now doing them quite confidently so good news all round.
Yesterday I did a short run of 5.5k (ran out of time watching my son play football) and then I went to my swimming lesson.
This is my fourth lesson and each week I get anxious, sore throat and a headache! I’m totally out of my comfort zone, it is my weakest area and I also swallow a gallon of water however I am going to stick with this with the hope of becoming Rebecca Adlington at the end of it (only joking!). I hope this swimming lark clicks with me – it isn’t natural for me but I can now swim with my head in the water. The word I am going to use is progress as I can see the difference in 4 sessions.
Today I will be running and cycling. Will update tonight!
