Ten Days of Doubt

Training for the Half Iron Man is not easy…….

With only 7 weeks to go the nerves are starting to set in and the elements of doubt are bouncing around in my head.

Swimming is my biggest weakness but is currently something that I am proud of.  Back in January I could only swim with my head out of the water.  The maximum number of lengths was 14 but I was lucky to even do that.  I’m not confident in the water and going swimming fills me with dread however I can now swim with my head in the water and I have done 40 lengths today.  WoW!  Even though I need to swim 80 lengths in 7 weeks time I am chuffed with the progress I have made.

With all of the above – last week was a week where I was thinking – what am I doing?  The doubt is still there but I feel much better this weekend.

Yesterday I did non-stop 50k on the bike and did a brick test straight afterwards running 5.5k.  I achieved this feat in 3 hours but I sustained an injury.  On the tow path there was a mound of mud that I didn’t see and unfortunately fell over and rolled over like a stunt woman!  I’ve really hurt myself and look like I’m back at school – scrapped knee and elbow!

With 7 weeks to go I need to focus on swimming the equivalent to 80 lengths, cycling 56 miles and running for a 1/2 marathon raising loads of money for charity.

June 14th is the date…….www.justgiving.co.uk/sarahpullen
