17th May 2015.
Well it’s only 4 weeks until the main event and I’m delighted to let everyone know that today has been a good day. As you know, there have been tears, tantrums and moments of doubt but today – something has happened – I think it is coming together.
Early this morning I went swimming and achieved 50 lengths. The important part of the swim was that I wasn’t freaking out like I normally do. My breathing technique is better but I still can’t go faster. I met two people today who have seen me swim every week. They have never spoken to me before however they gave me feedback “you are swimming better and looking stronger”. One of them gave me further advice – don’t move your legs from the knees – swim from your hips. With this advice I swam the last 10 lengths faster than ever before. I think I can actually swim!!
This afternoon I have cycled 43k and knocked off 35 minutes off my previous time. I did this under 2 hours which again is another huge achievement for me. Next week I’m going for the big 80k bike ride and I want to achieve a target time of 3.5 hours. Another plus was that I didn’t fall off this afternoon. No more injuries or indeed tears.
Will run later today and sneak in a 10k.
I’m really chuffed – happy days!
